Willem Mettes was bapt. Wognum 6 November 1796, and died 1 or 2 Dec 1855 Westerblokker (Blokker). Willem was a son of Jan Mettes and Geertje Willemse Stam.

Willem married in Blokker on 25 Augustus 1826 to Geertruid (Geertje) Beers, born 1792 Hoogkarspel, bapt Westwoud 29 may 1792. Geertje was a daughter of Cornelis Jans and Christina Entes (now called: Entius). Geertje Beers was earlier married to Jacob Langedijk, and Geertje died in Blokker on 4 december 1845. Willem later remarried Geertje Ruiter, and they had two children (see further down below). Willem was a landman, i.e. farmer who owns his own land, who was 57 years old when his son Frans was born. When Willem died in 1855, Frans was barely three years old. Below is the marriage certificate of Willem and his first wife Geertje Beers. On the certificate are the signatures of Willem Mettes, Geertje Beers, Jan Mettes (Willem's father), Jan Beers (Geertje's brother) and Jacob Mettes (Willem's younger brother).

Below is the death certificate of Willem. On the certificate are the signatures of Jacob Ruiter (Geertje's brother) and Pieter Zwan (friend).

Willem and Geertje Ruiter had two children: 1. Catharina (Trijntje) Mettes, who was born 18 March 1852, Blokker and who died 11 May 1876, Zwaagdijk. Trijntje married 24 April 1873 in Blokker to Dirk Vriend, 28 July 1850 Zwaagdijk (Hoogkarspel) - 28 May 1919 in Westwoud, son of: Pieter Vriend and Marijtje Vlaar. Trijntje and Dirk had a son, Petrus (Piet) Vriend, 15 April 1876 Zwaagdijk (Hoogkarspel) - 20 December 1946 Schellinkhout. After Trijntje's death in 1876, Dirk remarried (2) on 01 May 1878 in Blokker to Catharina (Trijntje) Oud, 20 April 1857 Westwoud - 25 November 1902 Westwoud, dr. of Pieter Oud, 01 October 1813 Grootebroek - 26 February 1871 Westwoud, and Grietje Vriend, 01 April 1824 Zwaagdijk - 16 August 1882 Westwoud. Note that Frans (Trijntje's brother below) also married into the Oud framily. Dirk finally remarried (3) on 14 August 1906 in Blokker to Antonia (Teunisje) Schouten, ca. 1853 Zwaag - 11 November 1935 Westerblokker, dr. of Klaas Schouten en Trijntje Tuin. 2. Franciscus (Frans I) Mettes, who was born 15 Sep 1854 in Westerblokker and who died 2 Feb 1917 in Bussum Frans married Gertrudis (Geertje) Oud, who was born 4 Dec 1853 Westwoud N.H. and who died 25 Oct 1938 in Bussum.
