Jacob Mettes

Jacob Mettes was born in Blokker on 24 October 1862. Jacob was a policeman, and he died Medemblik on 31 March 1950. Jacob was a son of Pieter Mettes (20 aug 1836 - 23 apr 1871) and Aafje Sijm (15 July 1830 - 23 March 1900) Jacob married on 7 January 1886 in Wervershoof to Geertje Komen, who was born in Zwaag on 6 July 1863, and who died in Wervershoof on 12 apr 1926. Geertje was a daughter of Jacob Komen and Aafje Grooteman.

Geertje Komen

Jacob remarried on 17 May 1939 in Amsterdam to Hillegonda Jacoba Kater, who was born in Amsterdam on 11 June 1873, and who died in Noordwijk 17 May 1941. Hillegonda was a daughter of Jacob Kater and Hilletje Uyt de Bogaart. Jacob Mettes and Geertje Komen had six children: 1. Pieter, born in Grootebroek 14 November 1886, died 28 maart 1913 2. Wilhelmina, born in Grootebroek 17 nov 1888, died 29 sep 1980, married Adrianus Glim 3. Jacobus, born 13 apr 1891, died 28 feb 1978, married Catharina de Boer 4. Agaath, born 20 mar 1898, died circa 1980, married Toon Vriend 5. Nicolaas, who died circa 1949 and married Sytje Oud 6. Afra, also known as nun Hillaire on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Afra Mettes becoming a nun, renamed Hillaire, at the Sisters of Love in Tilburg. Photo taken ca 1937.
