Jacob's death notice
Jacob (Jacques I) Mettes was born on 12 February 1889 Berkhout and died on 2 August 1963 in Nijmegen. Jacob served from 24 September 1909 to 31 December 1918 in the Militie, eventually as corporal with the 1st Regiment Huzaren (on horseback).

Clara Elisabeth Willemsen was born 7 August 1891 in Amsterdam and died 18 September 1962 in Den Haag. Clara was a daughter of Hermanus Willemsen and Johanna Clara Francisca Houtison. Clara was a sister of Gesina, who was married to Jacob's brother Frans Mettes

Jacob and Clara married on 4 January 1922 and lived - during their married lives - at Hoefkade 287 Den Haag, above their bottle shop.

The parents of Jacob are pictured directly below:

The registry in Den Haag mentions 6 August 1891 as Clara's birth date, but the registry in Amsterdam says she was born 7 August 1891 (see below). The latter is probably the accurate date, as she was born in Amsterdam.

 Clara's birth certificate
