That's Optionality!

That's Optionality! was composed in the late 1980s. The text first appeared in the January 1996 issue of Optionality, which discussed the concept optionality in various articles.

To have real alternatives from which to choose,
that's optionality;
to be able to choose without having to lose,
that's optionality;
to have a number of choices as to what to do,
that's optionality;
and to have a choice without having to,
that's optionality;

There are so many words that we can use
to accept an offer or to refuse;
after so many fights for freedom were won,
there still was no word for
"and/or/none/and so on and on and on and on and . . .

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . , that's optionality;
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . , that's optionality;
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . , that's optionality;
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . , that's optionality;

To take up one option without losing the rest,
that's optionality;
to be able to say which ones are the best,
that's optionality;
to take up one option or another one,
that's optionality;
or to take up both or to take up none,
that's optionality;

We don't have to win our argument
before any kind of Parliament;
no judge can make us lose our face,
because history will prove our case . . .

To make up your mind what you want to do,
that's optionality;
to define what you want and to get it too,
that's optionality;
to take up some options or some other ones,
that's optionality;
or to take them all, all at once,
that's optionality;

There are so many things that we can give
without having to take in order to live;
dictators will fall one by one,
because now there's a word for
"and/or/none/and so on and on and on and on and . . .

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . , that's optionality;
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . , that's optionality;
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . , that's optionality;
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . , that's optionality;

To reject monopolies and cartels,
that's optionality;
not to regulate what someone sells,
that's optionality;
to have no government decree,
that's optionality;
and to have no rules in society,
that's optionality!
