Improvisation (A)

Sometimes I feel
oh so sad;
there is nothing you can say
that can make me glad.

Then I sit down and play
this old lonesome tune;
it doesn't need words;
I just let the piano

do the crying . . .

So, if there are times
when you feel oh so sad;
and if there is nothing in the world
that can make you glad.

Just sit down and listen
to this old lonesome tune;
you don't need to say a word;
just let the piano

do the crying . . .

When the Government controls
every word that we say,
there isn't much room
for us to play.

So, just sit down and listen
and I will play;
because improvisation
doesn't need

regulations . . .
