If you have to read this, I'm sorry; someone must
have written it down, perhaps adding some meaning that
wasn't put into the sound.
Do you prefer to listen
to what someone else thinks I mean? Isn't such an
interpretation a misappropriation of my song?
If
you still have to read this, I'm sorry that you insist
with an act that could make you an accomplice in the
twisting of my song.
You may get the wrong idea
that what has been written down as text or as musical
notes, is somehow better than sound.
If you
haven't heard my song, if you do not know the rhythm,
do you still add some rhythm to each line of the text?
Do you read it with intonation, or with a 'robot'
voice? If you're taking such decisions, aren't you
calling the tune?
By imposing your interpretation,
did you not change my song? If you gave it other
meaning, can we ever see eye to eye?
